Tax Accountant Position, Ottawa-Gatineau

Position Type: Full Time, Permanent

Salary is determined based on your skills and experience

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare personal and corporate tax returns
  • Prepare trust income tax returns for deceased individuals and final income tax return
  • Research tax issues
  • Handling CRA reviews/audits
  • Prepare income tax returns from accounting records
  • Communication with tax authorities on behalf of clients (CRA and RQ)
  • Communication with clients, ensuring all inquiries are answered

Other duties will be assigned as required

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist with bookkeeping engagements for clients (QBO/Sage) 
  • Reconcile accounts
  • Post journal entries
  • Assess the quality of the presentation of the financial statements
  • Prepare notes to the financial statements
  • Prepare reports and audit findings
  • Examine accounting records
  • Analyze financial documents and reports
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards procedures and internal control

Other duties will be assigned as required

Education And Experience

  • 2 years of relevant experience (required) 
  • Diploma or degree with a focus on accounting (required)
  • Experience with tax software such as TaxCycle, TaxPrep, or ProFile (required)
  • Have Personal and Corporate tax experience (required)
  • Have trust income tax experience (asset)
  • Experience with Microsoft office (required)
  • Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, and CaseWare (asset)
  • Bilingual with working proficiency in English and French (preferred)
